Tuesday Truth: Breaking the Shopaholic Cycle – One Smart Purchase at a Time 💙💸
Hey, Bleu Bells! 💙
Let’s talk about it—once upon a time, I was a full-blown shopaholic. I mean, I used to hit up Goodwill, Target, Marshalls, Nordstrom, and fill my closet to the brim with clothes and things I thought I needed. Did I wear everything? Maybe. But let’s be real—half the time, I found myself repeatedly reaching for the same favorites while the rest just sat there collecting dust.
Fast forward to pre-baby life, and I consciously decided to break the cycle before Sariah was born. I sold my house, decluttered, and finally let go of the “buy just because” mentality. And now, as a mom? Whew, the temptation is real—but I refuse to become a baby shopaholic.
Needs vs. Wants: The Mom Edition 🍼✨
Let’s break this down because baby shopping can get out of control real quick:
✅ Needs:
• Diapers & wipes (the RIGHT ones for her skin)
• Formula (that actually works for her, not just whatever is trending)
• Clothes for her growth spurts (NOT 50 onesies just because they’re cute)
• A good jacket (and guess what? I can wash the one she has!)
• Essentials that keep her happy, comfortable, and healthy
🚫 Wants:
• 30,000 bibs because they match her outfits (guilty 😅)
• Every brand of formula just to “try” them all (been there, wasted money)
• A million baby outfits when she’s outgrowing them every other week
• Random things that “look cute” but don’t actually serve a purpose
My New Shopping Rule: Stop & Think 🛑
Before I step foot into Target, HomeGoods, Marshalls, or Nordstrom, I ask myself:
➡️ Does she REALLY need this?
➡️ Is this a necessity or just me wanting it for fun?
➡️ Would this money be better spent on something meaningful, like her swim classes or baby gym?
The truth is, babies don’t need stuff—they need experiences, care, and love. So, if I’m spending money, it’s going to be on the things that matter most for her development, not just things that “look cute” in the moment.
Bleu Bells, I challenge you to check your spending habits this week! Are you buying what your baby needs, or are you falling into the “but it’s adorable” trap like I used to?
Drop a comment and let me know—what’s the last thing you bought that you probably didn’t need? No judgment, just real talk! 💙✨
