Does stress cause acne? 〰️

Hey, bleu bells, I am struggling. I am going through it with consistent acne breakouts on my face. Sometimes I want to stay indoors and exfoliate all day. My skin is super sensitive. I struggle with touching my face several times a day.

My dermatologist said this is one of the main issues in developing acne due to dirt in my pores. I can’t believe I still have acne breakouts in my 30s. It is so frustrating. My skin is the first thing you see. So, imagine how I feel when I have a massive zit on my chin that I popped and now a blemish for three months.

I suffered from acne during my teenage years. I only started seeing a dermatologist in my late 20s when I suffered fungus breakouts in New York. Who would have known I had fungus on my face? I swear we go through so much with our bodies.

My acne triggers my insecurities. I hate constantly looking in the mirror at new bumps. The worst feeling is waking up to a new whitehead on your face first thing in the morning, especially when you have the same nighttime routine.

So, of course, I scheduled an appointment with my dermatologist to provide some relief and updated information on what my skin was struggling with.

During my appointment, my dermatologist questioned my stress level, where I suffer from hormonal acne. According to research, hormonal acne is typically used to describe adult-onset female acne. It presents with painful red papules, pustules, and deep cysts on the lower face, and it can create long-term scarring, especially if you attempt to pop it. Sounds like my life.

So, stress triggers my skin. We need a manual on this. Our skin is like a badge of honor. The clearer and smoother it is, the more confident you feel. I want my skin to look and feel like a baby’s butt. You know what I mean. Smooth, soft, and clear.

I use aloe gel as a mask every morning and night to clear my blemishes. Surprisingly, it is working. Consistency is key. Three weeks and counting with topical face medication, consistent morning and night routine, and aloe vera mask. I am not where I want to be, but I am progressing.
